I knew the exact moment she saw me. A look of relief washed over her face. She walked with just a touch more confidence towards the VIP section. "Hey." I pulled her in and kissed her softly. She blinked up at me. "Hello." "You look stunning." "I do?" She looked like she wasn't sure. How a woman could look like her and not know her own appeal was beyond me. But that was Rosie. She didn't know what she was doing to me. Not yet. I was going to have to show her. "Yes." I pulled her down to the couch. Rebecca was watching us closely. I mixed everyone a drink from the chilled bottles that were out. "Champagne? Or vodka?" Rebecca leaned forward. "She'll take vodka. Me as well." I glanced at Rosie. She shrugged, looking like a lost little doe. I poured us each a vodka tonic and handed the girls their drinks. Rebecca downed her drink, nudging Rosie into doing the same. "Really Rose, Nicholas already paid for all of this, it would be rude not to drink it!" Of course, she did as she was told. She always did. Rebecca winked at me, waving to her friends. She seemed to know everyone in the place. Apparently she was a regular. I poured them another drink. I sipped mine as the girls chugged another drink. It was hard to watch the way Rebecca manipulated her cousin. I was just as guilty though. Soon, I'd be more than guilty. I'd be complicit. "Come on, let's dance." If she was going to get buzzed, at least I could show her a good time. Rosie let me pull her to her feet. I led her to the dance floor, leaving Rebecca to surround herself with young inebriated socialites. We were already in the middle of the floor when I realized she was tugging on my hand. "Nico- I can't dance!" Rosie was staring up at me, panic in her huge blue eyes. I stroked my hands over her shoulders. I was about to lay the ground work for later. When I took her virginity. Tonight, if I had anything to say about it. I smiled reassuringly. "It's okay, just follow my lead." I pulled her against me and started to move. I took full advantage of the opportunity to touch her. Her back, her hips, her waist. Her eyes were wide as I started to grind into her. I wanted her dripping before I took her. My hands slid under her jacket, holding her in place while I worked my hips against her. I bent forward so my face was against her neck. I breathed against her ear, knowing it had to tickle. In a good way, I hoped. "See? You're a natural." She laughed breathlessly and shook her head. "No, I'm not." "Do you want to stop?" "No. It's... nice." I closed my eyes. Damn her, she was making my conscience raise its ugly head. I was more interested in taking care of my other head right now. I wanted her. Badly. I hadn't even taken a Viagra. I was having a hard time controlling myself. I told myself it was because I hadn't been with anyone since my last client session, but that was a lie. It was her. To hell with it. "Do you want some air? I have a limo outside." "I don't want to leave Rebecca." "She's fine- look at her." I pointed to the VIP section where our table was now flooded with people helping themselves to our bottle service. It might as well have been LA or New York. People were the same everywhere. Rosie looked outraged though. "Nico! They're drinking it all!" I smiled at her. "I don't mind." I guided her through the club to the entrance and outside. The air was cool, clearing my head a little. Then I looked at her. Those long legs, her tight body and huge eyes. It was too much. "Come on." I opened the limo door and climbed in behind her. I didn't give either one of us a chance to stop and think. I pulled her against me and started to kiss her. No, I devoured her. My hands ran wild as I inhaled her lips, pulling her tongue into my mouth. I could taste the lime and booze on her fresh breath. Her skin and hair smelled incredible. The way she felt in my hands was something else entirely. Smooth. Sweet. Perfect. Mine. I guided her back down onto the cushion, crawling on top of her. I groaned at the feel of her beneath me. My shaft was twitching in my pants, ready to break free and impale her. More than anything on Earth, I wanted to sink my cock inside her and never come out again. Except I did have to come out. This was a job. A six week assignment. I couldn't do a thing about it. One word from Rebecca and she would never speak to me again. I realized it didn't matter though. If I could only have her now, I wanted to take as much as I could get. Suck the marrow out of life. She was soft and pliant in my hands as I stroked her, running my hands up and down her long silky legs. That was it. I was going to hell. But I couldn't do it. I couldn't take her like this. Not her first time. "Can I take you to my hotel room? Please, Rosie." She bit her lip and nodded. I rapped on the glass. "The Concorde please."

Blog / Review Tour Pulled by AF Crowell

SYNOPSIS:

NEW BEGINNINGS

E.R. nurse Leila Matthews’s whole life turned upon one single sentence: “Brody, I’m pregnant.” What she thought would be the happiest day of her life became a nightmare as she was abandoned by the father of her soon-to-be-born child. If her friend Jaxon wasn’t there to pick up the pieces, she couldn’t have coped. Then what had started out as a deep and abiding friendship became a soul-searing love.

Yet, while Jaxon is the man of her dreams, Leila doesn’t want her child to grow up not knowing its father. The situation, a triangle involving tortured pasts and unstoppable passion, will test everyone involved. Both suitors will seek forgiveness for terrible mistakes, and Leila will soon be pulled between two powerful men: a handsome CEO who owns all he surveys, and an ex-soldier whose M.C. teeters on the brink of the unforgivable. Leila must choose the man who is perfect for her future…and for the future of her child.

~Leila~

Once we got home, I drove out to Johns Island, praying the entire way. One minute I prayed Brody would still be in New York. The next I prayed he would be there, waiting for me, ready to tell me what a fucking moron he had been.

I knocked on the door and Jane answered. I could see the pity in her eyes. She knew. I felt the tears welling up in my eyes, but I swallowed, blinked them back and went inside with her.

“Ruger is just out back. Come on. Let’s go to the kitchen. Are you hungry? Can I make you some lunch?”

“No thanks Jane. I’m not hungry. I don’t really have an appetite at the moment. I just want to get Ruger and get out of here before he gets home,” I said, looking around for my Shepherd. “You don’t know when Brody is getting in do you? Because I don’t want him to find me here. He was mad enough last night. I just want to grab my stuff and my dog, then I will leave him alone, like he wants.”

“Sweetie, I understand y’all are havin’ some issues right now, but just please give him some time to come around. He will. He just needs time.”

“Jane, I love you to death, but I don’t have time to wait for him to pull his head out of his ass. I have a baby to think about. I need to worry about us.” I placed my hand on my abdomen. “And how I am going to raise him or her by myself.” And here come the tears. “I’m going to go get my things from Brody’s bedroom. I won’t be long.”

Racing up the stairs, I grabbed everything of mine I could see. I left the gifts, jewelry and toys. I didn’t need any more reminders of Brody than I already had. Throwing the duffle over my shoulder, I went back down to get Ruger.

“Jane, I think I have everything. If you see anything else, would you please just set it to the side and call me. I could meet you somewhere.” I hit the bottom step. “You know, so I don’t have to come back out here.”

A look of panic flashed on her face and I knew.

He was home.

FML. Part of me wanted to run out the front door, but I could hear him talking to Ruger in the family room.

Fuck, fuckidy, fuck, fuck, fuck!

I knew he saw my car out front. It was pretty hard to miss. I felt a stray tear slip past and quickly wiped it away.

Jane walked to the foot of the stairs where I was standing and whispered, “Please Leila, just go talk to him. I promise he is calm. You know he won’t yell in front of me. Or Ruger for that matter,” she said with a little giggle, trying to lighten my mood.

“Jane, I don’t think it’s a good idea, I need to just go. He made it perfectly clear last night what his decision was. Please, don’t make this any harder on me.” I bit the inside of my cheek to distract myself from the emptiness and ache in my chest. We were whispering back and forth when I heard him clear his throat. I closed my eyes, looked down and took a deep breath.

You can do this. Just walk out the front door, whistle for Ruger and walk away. Come on, one foot in front of the other.

“I didn’t expect to see you here,” Brody whispered.

5 Star Review

Wow ! I am a freaking mess right now !

I don't know if my heart can take the final book in this series. I am scared AF Crowell is going to rip my heart out. This is not one of those books where you know without a doubt who is going to end up together in the end.

This series has been amazing. I do not want to give out any spoilers so I am just going to say. READ this book. If you haven't read PUSHED yet do it NOW !!! This is one of those stories that you will fall in love with and be thinking about it for days, weeks, months to come..

Excerpt

At thirty-four weeks pregnant, dancing to the oldies was not on the menu. Neither was sitting at Brody’s dining room table crying my heart out. Right after blasting Funkytown, the DJ on WXLY said, “Now here’s a problem.” then played Torn Between Two Lovers. Like I needed to hear that shit.

I’d spent the day contemplating how to tell Brody – my baby’s father – what I was thinking, and where things stood with my fiancé, Jaxon. Yeah, my MC VP and I had a lot of outstanding issues, but it had come time to make a decision. Brody kissing me the night before did nothing to give me clarity. I had been doing a decent job of organizing my discussion strategy when the damned song came on and sent me into a tailspin.

When I was not a blubbering mess, I had spent the afternoon in the kitchen making dinner. By the time Brody came home, I’d pulled myself together – mostly.

He stood before me probably thinking my hormones got the better of me - once again - when he asked, “What’s up Lei? We could’ve gone to dinner. You really didn’t have to cook… but thank you,” he walked over and kissed the top of my head. “How was your day?”

“Uh, fine, I guess.” I smiled half-heartedly, lost in my own head.

“Well, it looks delicious.”

We ate mostly in silence as I screwed up my courage to say what needed saying. “We need to talk, Brody,” I looked down so I wouldn’t have to meet his eyes. The fork he was holding made a loud clank as he dropped it to the plate.

“Yeah, we do,” he sighed. “Listen, I know things are complicated and I’m making them worse. I wish, for your sake, I could tell you that I was drunk last night and that I didn’t mean to kiss you… I guess I had hoped it would be the beginning of us getting back together.”

Just as I opened my mouth to respond my cell started ringing. My BFF Barb. I hit ignore.

Brody raised an eyebrow.

“Barb.” I waved my hand in the air. “I’ll call her back later.” Then placed the phone on the table. “So last night-”

My cell started ringing again. I glanced over, “Huh. Barb again.”

“Answer it. Maybe something’s wrong,”

“Hey Barb, I’m with Brody. Can I call you in a little-”

“Leila, honey, where are you?” she sounded frantic.

“I’m at Brody’s. What’s wrong?” Suddenly, I had an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach.

“I need you to come to the ER now. Can you get Brody to drive you?”

“What the hell’s going on?” My eyes widened as fear tore through my chest and crept up my throat.

“I’ll explain when you get here.” Barb stalled. “I don’t want you freaking out on the way. It’s not good for the baby.”

“No way. What in the hell is going on? I’m not moving until you tell me what’s wrong. What happened?” Full blown panic had set in. Worst case scenarios ran through my head in rapid fire succession.

Brody grabbed the phone out of my hand. “Barb, its Brody. What is going on? Leila is white as a sheet.”

I tried to grab the phone back, but he stood and began pacing the room. Hearing nothing but watching his face turn into a mask of stone, I felt the blood drain from my head.

“Fuck. Okay, we're on our way,” he hung up, stopped in front of me, crouched down on one knee, but looked down at the hardwood floor. Finally, he lifted his eyes to mine.

“What’s wrong?” The words were half stuck in my throat.

He clasped my hands between his. “I’ll explain on the way. You need to grab your purse and use the bathroom. Just please try and stay calm, okay?”

“Just tell me,” I whispered. I knew someone I loved was dead.

He stood and walked to the doorway. “We’re wasting time. Go to the bathroom, I’ll grab your purse and my phone and I’ll meet you in the garage.”

Typical Brody, he walked away not giving me a whole lot of choice but to do as he directed. When I met him in the garage, he had already started the Viper, and had the garage door opened. Without a word, he helped me in the car and we took off.

“Start talking Brody,” I demanded. “You said you’d explain on the way.”

Staring straight ahead Brody finally spoke. “What I’m about to say is going to be hard to hear, baby. You need to stay calm and think about our daughter, okay?”

“Brody, please.” Tears pricked my eyes.

“Promise me. I need you to stay calm and be the ER nurse right now.” He glanced over as we pulled onto the main road.

“Okay, okay. I promise. Now what’s happened? Is it my brother?” I gripped the side of my seat.

“No. Drew is fine…,” he hesitated. “It’s Jaxon.”

For a moment I couldn’t process what I heard. “What? What happened? Why is he in the ER?”

“I don’t know anything more than there was an incident with the motorcycle gang-”

“Club,” I interrupted, correcting him.

“What?” He looked from the road to me for a split second.

“It’s a motorcycle club. Not a gang. They’re mostly military vets, Brody, not thugs.”

“Okay. Whatever. Something went down and Jaxon was in the middle of it. Drew is on his way to the ER. Barb said he’d meet us there.” Brody eased onto the expressway and let the Henny do what she did best. She rolled.
